How is cost per visit calculated?
Divide what the reward costs you by the stamps needed to earn it. A dessert that costs you $3 on an 8-stamp card is under 40 cents a visit.
What share of the check is healthy?
As a rule of thumb, up to 5% of the average check is a healthy reward, 5% to 10% is generous, and over 10% is usually expensive. It depends on your margin.
How many stamps should I ask for?
As many as a regular collects in one or two months. If they come once a week, 6 to 8 stamps.
What are the extra visits that pay for the reward?
How many additional visits, at your check and margin, cover the reward's cost. If the program brings more visits than that, it pays for itself.
