Digital loyalty cards for restaurants: stamps in Wallet, no app, no POS

A digital loyalty card lives in your guest's Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, or in the browser if they have no Wallet. Guests scan a QR code at the table to get it, servers stamp it from their own phone, and the reward appears on the card. There is no app to download and no POS integration.

Digital loyalty card
A digital loyalty card is a stamp or points card that lives on the guest's phone instead of in their pocket. Westify's card works with Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, and in the browser for phones without Wallet.

How does a Wallet loyalty card work, step by step?

  1. Scan at the table. The guest scans the QR code on the table sign, types their name and creates the card.
  2. Save it to Wallet. Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. If their phone has no Wallet, the card lives in the browser.
  3. The server stamps. At checkout, the server scans the card from their phone, signed in with the location's PIN.
  4. Reward and return. When the card is full, the reward shows up right on it, and you see who comes back and when.

Stamps, points or a discount: which should a restaurant choose?

Three ways to reward visits
TypeHow it countsGood for
StampsOne visit, one stampCoffee shops, taco shops and places with frequent, similar tickets
PointsOne dollar, one point; the server types the bill before scanningRestaurants where the ticket size varies a lot
DiscountThe same discount every visitBars and places that want a simple member price

Read stamps, points or discount to choose, browse reward ideas, and work out the numbers with the loyalty reward calculator.

What does the card include?

  • Secure stamping: a PIN per location, and you remove a server's phone when they leave.
  • Anti-abuse rules: a wait between stamps, a minimum spend, and expiry for cards and rewards.
  • Automatic notifications: Welcome, and We miss you at 30, 45 or 60 days, right on the card.
  • A nearby notice: the card can show up on the lock screen when the guest walks by.
  • Rewards that bring guests back: welcome stamps, a halfway reward, and stamps for both when a guest brings a friend.
  • Delivery orders: a stamp with each delivery order and code stickers for the bag.
  • Your brand: your logo, your colors, a photo and the stamp icon.
  • Several locations: one card per location, or a shared card that counts everywhere.
  • Data with consent: a privacy notice, a promotions checkbox, and guests can delete their card.
  • Your dashboard: members, stamps in the last 30 days, rewards redeemed and each guest's activity.

How should a restaurant set up its loyalty card?

Setup takes an afternoon, not a project. The decisions that matter are the reward and the rules; the rest is your logo and a table sign.

  1. Pick the type: stamps for frequent, similar tickets; points when the bill varies a lot; a discount for a simple member price.
  2. Pick a reward guests actually want, and a goal they can reach in a few weeks of normal visits. The calculator helps with the math.
  3. Set the anti-abuse rules: a wait between stamps, a minimum spend, and when cards and rewards expire.
  4. Add your brand: logo, colors, a photo and the stamp icon.
  5. Print the table sign with the QR code and put it where guests wait or pay.
  6. Sign in each server's phone with the location's PIN, and show them the scan once.
  7. Turn on Welcome and We miss you notifications, and choose 30, 45 or 60 days.

After the first month, read the dashboard: members, stamps in the last 30 days, rewards redeemed and each guest's activity. If stamps are high and rewards are rare, the goal is too far. If rewards come fast and visits do not change, the goal is too close.

What does the guest see, and what happens to their data?

The guest sees your card in their Wallet with your logo, their stamps and the reward they are working toward. When the card is full, the reward appears on it, and the server scans it to redeem. Notifications land on the card itself, so you never need the guest's phone number to reach them.

Sign-up shows a privacy notice and a checkbox for promotions, and the guest can delete their card at any time. Keep the promise simple: a card that counts visits and tells them when a reward is ready.

How does the loyalty card connect to your Google reputation?

The card runs in the same Westify panel as your review replies, alerts and monthly report. One login shows you who comes back and what guests write about you.

The card rewards visits, never reviews. Google prohibits offering incentives for reviews, so a stamp for a review is off the table. Reviews get requested from every guest equally, with no reward, and a QR code or NFC tag at the table can also collect private feedback without standing between a guest and Google.

For the reputation side, see the review reply playbook and the Westify Score and Pulse.

Who is a Wallet loyalty card for?

A group can run one card per location or a shared card that counts at every location. Our post on Apple Wallet and Google Wallet loyalty cards covers how the passes work.

Questions

Do my guests have to download an app?

No. The card saves to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, which already come on the phone. If the guest doesn't use Wallet, the card works in the browser at its own link.

Do I need to connect my POS?

No. Servers stamp from their phone by scanning the guest's card. With points per dollar, they type the bill amount before scanning.

How much does the loyalty card cost?

The loyalty card is included on Growth ($59) and Enterprise ($119). On Basic ($29) it is a $7.99 a month add-on. All prices are per location, with no charge per member or per notification.

Can I give stamps for Google reviews?

No. Google prohibits offering incentives for reviews. The card rewards visits; reviews get requested from everyone equally, with no reward.

How do I stop a server from giving away stamps?

Every stamp is logged with the phone that gave it. Phones sign in with the location's PIN, and you remove them from your dashboard whenever you want. You can also set a wait between stamps and a minimum spend.

Can one card work across all my locations?

Yes. Choose one card per location, or a shared card that counts at every location.

Can I send promotions to card holders?

Yes. A notification lands right on the card on the guest's phone, without asking for their number. There are also automatic Welcome and We miss you notifications.
